How do I get the base URL in the formula editor in salesforce?
Is there a way to get the base url (https://ap2.salesforce.com) or instance (ap2) in the formula builder so I can avoid hardcoding an instance?

This will give you the Base URL
LEFT($Api.Partner_Server_URL_260, FIND( '/services', $Api.Partner_Server_URL_260))
